Bethlehem Endowment Foundation

WHAT IS THE BETHLEHEM HIGH SCHOOL LEGACY FOUNDATION
Established in June of 2006, The Legacy Foundation is an endowment program established to assure the long term future of Bethlehem High School.

HOW THE MONEY WILL BE USED
Interest earned from Foundation contributions will be used for:
• Tuition assistance for students
• Facility improvements
• Teacher salary enhancement

WAYS OF GIVING TO THE FOUNDATION
Annual donations made directly to Bethlehem High School are vital to its operation and should not be forsaken in order to contribute to the Foundation.
In considering contributions to the Foundation, one should evaluate his or her lifetime charitable goals.
Planned Giving to the Foundation is: “the integration of one’s personal, financial, and estate planning goals with a person’s goals for lifetime or testamentary charitable giving.”

COMMON TYPES OF FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTIONS
  • Cash Donations
  • Name Bethlehem High School in your will or trust
  • Create a charitable remainder trust to provide yourself or someone you choose, income for life as well as estate tax advantages
  • Donate a life insurance policy you no longer need or name Bethlehem as a beneficiary
  • Leave the unused portion of your retirement account to Bethlehem by naming Bethlehem as a beneficiary
  • Purchase a charitable gift annuity that benefits Bethlehem and yourself

NAMED ENDOWMENTS
Benefactors who contribute a cumulative amount of $10,000 or more will establish a “Named” Scholarship Endowment Fund. The fund is designated to provide up to 100% tuition support for students with the greatest financial need as indicated by the Private School Aid Service (PSAS). The fund will be named as directed by the donor and can be in honor or in memory of a family member, etc. The student receiving the financial tuition support will recognize the donor in writing. Further recognition includes acknowledgement in the Bethlehem Annual Report and the fund name displayed on the Wall of Fame located in the front lobby of Bethlehem.
“Named” scholarship contributions may be pledged over a five (5) year period to reach the cumulative amount.

ENDOW KENTUCKY TAX CREDIT
In 2017, Martha Ballard Diebold ('73) and husband Frank, generously established a permanent endowment fund for Bethlehem High School through the Louisville Community Foundation. By making a gift to this existing permanent endowment fund, you may qualify for a state tax credit in addition to your Federal tax deduction.  This is a tax-wise way to support Bethlehem and create a lasting legacy.
