INTRODUCTION TO ART DESIGN
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades 10, 11, 12
This semester course will introduce students to the fundamentals of traditional art composition and design. Project orientated lessons that deal with the basic design elements and design principals will be introduced and explored. Classical drawing techniques will be introduced along with a limited variety of art materials. This class format includes lecture and studio work.

INTRODUCTION TO ART MEDIA
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 10, 11, 12
This semester course will introduce students to a variety of art materials and their application process. Project orientated lessons will focus on application, image content, and art history references of specific art media (graphite, watercolor, acrylic paint, chalk pastels, oil pastels, and others). The format will be studio work with emphasis on creating portfolio pieces.

ART II
(2 semesters, 1 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 11, 12
This year-long course is designed to build upon and increase the student's knowledge of the elements and principles of design. Application of art material and the dynamics of art process will be emphasized. This class is project orientated with a goal of developing individual styles while exploring and emulating art masters from history.

COMPUTER GRAPHIC ARTS
(2 semesters, 1 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 11, 12
This course is an introduction to the environment of computer graphic design. Students will learn to manipulate and design images using the industry standard software, Adobe Photoshop. The principles of composition, layout and design will be introduced. Students will also learn to use scanners, digital cameras and printers. The class format is a combination of group lessons and projects that are represented in a portfolio.

PHOTOSHOP
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 11, 12
This course will serve as an introduction to the environment of Computer Graphic Design and the pinciple of composition and layout. The students will learn to manipulate the software Adobe Photoshop in conjunction with other digital formats such as scanners, printers and digital cameras. It is recommended that this class be paried with Digital Photography.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
(1semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 11, 12
Prerequisite: Photoshop
This course will focus on the fundamental aspects of photography in combination with the editing qualities of Photoshop. Photography issues dealing with portraits, action photography, photojournalism, landscapes and animal portraits will be explored. The course will be project oriented with photo assignments. A digital camera or access to one is required.
