COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)

Emphasis in the first nine weeks of the course will be on developing the skills of using a "touch" system for entering data on the keyboard. Next, the students will learn basic word processing concepts that will carry them through their high school careers. Concepts such as backups, editing, headers, footers, resumes, research papers, and letters will be covered. Basic spreadsheet topics will be covered such as formulas and charting. A culminating activity will be required covering PowerPoint software. Basic procedures unique to Bethlehem High School will be covered such as saving to the server and using our Home Access system.
DESKTOP PUBLISHING
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 11, 12
Students will learn basic design techniques as they publish documents such as business cards, letterheads, brochures and newsletters. Students will learn to use graphic design software, scanners, and digital cameras. Students will also use film editing software and the closed circuit television system to produce a news program on Bethlehem activities and issues of interest to Bethlehem students.
WEB PAGE DESIGN
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades 11, 12
Emphasis in this course is using Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML) to design web pages. As a culminating project, each student will develop his or her own webpage to be published on Bethlehem's website.
ACCOUNTING
(2 semesters, 1 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades 11, 12
The basic principles of accounting are covered with emphasis on the "why" of accounting theory and procedures. This course provides a preparation for the daily recording of financial activities of a small or medium-sized business and teaches the student to interpret financial statements. Completion of financial statements for a simulated business partnership is required by the end of the year.
