HISTORY AND APPRECIATION OF THE VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

This course includes the study of the various visual and performing arts such as Pictorial Arts, Sculpture, Architecture, Theater, Music, Dance and Film. It introduces the creative process and enables students to develop an understanding of the arts from a historical perspective.
THEATRE ARTS I
1/2 Credit
Grade: 10,11,12
This course will introduce students to theatre arts. Emphasis will be on acting techniques, voice and diction, movement, and improvisation. In-class performances will be required of all students.
THEATRE ARTS II
1/2 Credit
Grade: 10,11,12
This is a continuation of Theatre Arts I. The emphasis will be on theatre history, script analysis, play production and the role of actors, directors, designers, and the playwright in this process. All students will be expected to actively participate in the spring production either as an actor or on a technical crew (set, props, costuming, sound lighting, or publicity).
CHOIR
1/4 Credit
Grade: 9,10,11,12
Choir is held twice a week during the activity period. Students will sing at school liturgies and other functions.
