PHYSICAL EDUCATION

This course promotes and encourages lifelong fitness through a wide variety of activities. Personal fitness, team sport fundamentals, flexibility, and fitness testing are emphasized. Participation and effort are stressed, not athletic skills or ability. This class satisfies the state mandated requirement for physicial education.
HEALTH
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grade: 9
One semester of Health is a state requirement for graduation. In Health, the students are taught that "WELLNESS" includes physical, mental, and social health. Healthy lifestyle choices are emphasized, including diet, exercise and the avoidance of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 11, 12
This is an interactive class designed to enhance the strength, condition, diet and overall physical and mental health of our students. Through various physical activities, such as weightlifting, running, and various aerobic exercises, students will gain a better understanding of how to take care of their bodies and how daily exercise can promote a healthy lifestyle both mentally and physically.
TEAM SPORTS
(1 semester, 1/2 credit, 3 pts.)
Grades: 11, 12
This class consists of advanced activities that focus on the inner workings of a number of team sports. Skills and team play are emphasized.
