Next week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week and Homecoming Week! We are so excited about the themes that the Bethlehem Flight Club has put together for us. See the attached flyer for each day's theme. Students should dress for the theme each day. Let's show our school spirit!

We had a great showing of Bethlehem students at the Capitol in Frankfort yesterday for the School Choice Rally. Students were able to hear from legislators about school choice and meet with Senator Jimmy Higdon to ask questions and gather more information. Thanks to Mrs. Koontz and Mrs. Mattingly for chaperoning our students for this event.

This week our Pro-Life Club has taken part in several events. On Tuesday, students attended the Kentucky March for Life in Frankfort where they attended the Kentucky Right to Life's annual parade and rally. On Wednesday, students spent some time providing service at Catholic Charities in Louisville. Thank you to Mr. Hayden for organizing these events for our students.

Congratulations to the Bethlehem Banshees who will represent our homecoming court at the double-header basketball games on Feb. 2. Congratulations to junior Caroline Mattingly who has been selected as a 2024 Military Child of the Year semifinalist! This prestigious award celebrating the remarkable achievements, character, and contribution of military children is given by Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit that works to build strong, stable, and secure military families. Over 700 military children across the country were nominated for this award, and 105 were selected to move on as semifinalists. The Military Child of the Year Award serves as a lifelong source of pride for the recipients and offers them unparalleled opportunities to connect with senior military leaders, celebrities, and most importantly, peers who understand the obstacles of growing up within a military family. The seven finalists for this award will be selected in March. While at Bethlehem, Caroline has been a member of the volleyball and basketball teams, a Student Ambassador, a member of the National Honor Society, an inaugural member of the Purple Star Committee, has held numerous leadership positions in several clubs on campus, and continues to excel in the classroom. Caroline’s father, COL Steve Mattingly, Commander of the 138th Field Artillery Brigade is currently deployed to Southwest Asia where they are serving as the Force Field Artillery Headquarters for the U.S. Army Central Command.

Bethlehem High School is excited to nominate sophomore Brock Randlett for the Courier Journal Student of the Week. Brock showcased his academic abilities by earning two medals at the Heartland League academic team competition. Furthermore, Brock's outstanding achievements have landed him a spot on the prestigious ACT 30+ Club in his freshman year. Now it's time for you to select the best of the best. Please take a few minutes to vote for Brock! Voting is open until noon Thursday, Jan. 25 and the winner will be announced Friday. Bethlehem's Academic Team took 2nd place Overall this weekend at Thomas Nelson HS. In Quick Recall, three tight matches against Bardstown HS led the two rivals to the wire; yet we came up short in the rubber match at 19-18 just as time ran out. Many medals came our way as well, with details as follows: Math 2nd Zeke Combs, 4th Brock Randlett; Science 2nd Jack Stevenson; History 2nd Brock Randlett , 4th Franklin Jardim; English 2nd Abby Ebelhar, 4th Alex Evans, 5th Juliana Palumbo; Arts/Humanities 1st Ramona Manion, 3rd Abby Ebelhar; Composition 4th Meredith Dyer. The team earned 2nd place in FPS and 2nd place in Quick Recall. All medalists as well as the FPS & QR teams move on to regionals at Marion County HS on February 12 & 17.

Congratulations to our homecoming court selected by the Bethlehem student body. Join us on Feb. 2 to see the Banshees, crown our new queen, and watch the Eagles.
