Congratulations to Bethlehem archery team who took 1st place today at the Taylor County State Qualifier with a 3309! Individual placement was as follows: Boys division: 3rd place- Bobby Joe Harris with a 291, 4th place- Ian Bowman with a 290, Girls division: 2nd place- Dannah Kleitz with a 282, 3rd place- Sydney Downs with a 281. Great job done by all Archers!

Bethlehem High School is excited to nominate junior Nick Osborne for the Courier Journal Student of the Week. Nick is a standout student at Bethlehem High School. He strives to put his best foot forward in his academics, his service, and in the community. He is a member of the golf, football, and basketball teams. Hard work is no stranger to Nick as he was the leading scorer for the Eagles basketball team in a big win this week. Now it's time for you to select the best of the best. A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to the success of our Catholic Schools Week! Your generosity and support have made this week truly special. Together, we've celebrated faith, knowledge, and community. Your commitment to our school is a beacon of light, and we are deeply grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you to our Theology Department led by Mr. Hayden for the planning of so many wonderful activities for our students and staff! Thank you to the Sunshine Committee who showered us with treats, a soup bar and kindness all week this week. And thank you to several parents and students along with Cooper Trail for making bread for us to share with our local First Responders. We are blessed with a wonderful school community!

Our faculty and staff have felt the love and appreciation from the Sunshine Committee during Catholic Schools Week. The lounge was stocked with snacks for the week. Today, faculty and staff were invited to a soup bar for lunch. We are so grateful for our Catholic School and our parents who shower us with love!

What a great theme for our students and faculty to participate in for homecoming this week. We had several decades well represented today including the 50s, the 70s, the 80s, and even the early 2000s. One of the students even mentioned that their mom was born in the 1900s!!! Lots of laughs in the hallways today. Tomorrow we conclude our homecoming week with Favorite Friday. Who will be victorious in the Battle of the Bluegrass: The University of Louisville or the University of Kentucky?

Our Catholic Schools Week celebrations are underway and we have had a lot of activities so far this week. On Monday, the freshmen classes completed the CSW Scavenger Hunt where they learned all about the history of Bethlehem High School. Yesterday, we had several students who attended the CSW mass at St. Agnes in Louisville. Today our entire school attended Adoration during their religion class. We are blessed to be able to come together as a school and share our faith!

Our students did a great job at waking up and coming into school wearing their pajamas. We are having great participation with our homecoming themes this week. We are looking forward to seeing all of the decades tomorrow for our Throwback Thursday theme.

We are thrilled to announce and extend a warm welcome to our new football coach, Coach Tim Mattingly, who will be joining our esteemed athletic staff. Coach Mattingly brings with him a wealth of experience, passion for the game, and a commitment to fostering excellence both on and off the field. With an impressive track record of success, Coach Mattingly is well-prepared to lead our football program to new heights. His coaching philosophy aligns seamlessly with our values, emphasizing not only skill development and strategic gameplay but also faith, character building, and sportsmanship. We are confident that Coach Mattingly will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our football program and contributing to the overall success of our athletes. His dedication to mentorship and creating a positive, collaborative team environment will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our student-athletes. Coach Mattingly has coached high school football for 34 years. During this time, he has won 14
district championships, 4 region championships, and 1 state runner-up in 2013. He began his coaching career at Washington County as an assistant in 1990. He was promoted to Defensive Coordinator in 1995 and was named the Head Coach in 2001. In 2004 he joined Meade County as their defensive coordinator and held that position for 10 years. In March of 2014, he was named the Head Football Coach at Central Hardin. While at Central Hardin he won 79 games, 6 district championships, 2 regional championships, and 2 semi-state appearances. He held this position for 10 years before stepping down. Coach Mattingly married his wife Kris in 1992 and they have 2 children, Tyler and Elizabeth. Tyler is married to Carleigh and they have 2 children, Mac and Hallie. Please join me in giving a warm welcome to Coach Tim Mattingly. We look forward to an exciting season ahead under his guidance and leadership.
